Beginning in late July, 2009, we will spend a year traveling, volunteering, studying, writing, teaching, and learning our way around the globe. If you want to know where we are or what we’re up to, this is the place.
I am a high school history teacher with a severe case wanderlust. Max, a former trader, was recently victim to the global economic crisis. He wanted to use the opportunity to see the world, but didn’t want to do it alone. Needless to say, I didn’t need much convincing (though it was extremely difficult to make the choice to leave my students). We’ll keep you posted on the adventure!
Credit needs to be given to Tom Lynch for the blog title. He helped us come up with it several months ago for our fantasy travling life. We had no idea at the time that it would actually happen. Thanks Tom!

Hooray, blogging!!

I have the travel wonderlust like you. Unlike you I did not travel to countries in one trip like you are doing now. I ahve visited Germany, Egypt, Italy, Canada, Mexico, Aruba, Venzuweala (spell check), Austria, Crotia, Slovenia. While in the Army I was stationed in Germany and Vietnam. I would be interested to hear more from you about Vietnam. By the way I had the same experiences that you had in Egypt. The only difference was that the temp was about 85 when I went (spring time). Loved the temples and I met Zawari Hawas.

Your adventure is the experience of a life time! Thanks for sharing it with all of us. I’m realllly impressed with this blog & it is so fun to read! I can’t believe Max found your engagement ring. That is a sign if I’ve ever heard of one. Have fun you two. How cool…

Trip to Egypt made me scare of travelling to places around. Your blog on Jordan bring up my interest in visiting her. Could you advice me on which tour agent to look for? I was cheated by the one I had in Egypt.

Jordan is great if you have the opportunity – the people are really fantastic. We encountered almost no hassle at all, a huge relief after Egypt. We didn’t use an agent, but the manager at our hotel helped us arranging day trips and stuff. The place – Amman Palace or something like that? – was a really budget place, the rooms were just ok, but the service was fantastic.

We are a couple of RTW travellers like you (traveling till June 2011) and stumbled upon your blog with great delight, as we very much share a lot of your opinions, particularly on India. We just couldnt get oursleved to like it … Anyways, I am not sure where you are or are heading but we are now in Bangkok. If you are somewhere around, would be great to grab a drink or something!

Hi there
My name is Li-Anne, and I find your blog rather entertaining and insightful.
Accordingly, I was wondering if you would like to make a mention of a competition we are running – which I think your readers, and you might find very intriguing: A free holiday into Africa – who wouldn’t want? I sure could do with a little getaway – all expenses paid – know what I’m saying?
The details are all in the link below:
